My Magicjack perpetually drops calls right in the middle of a call. It frequently takes me 5 - 7 minutes to reach the correct party - then the call goes dead and I get an echo in my phone.

I have gone on line with the Magicjack Tech Reps numerous times and spent sometimes an hour or more going through suggested "fixes." The problem continues. They cannot provide me an address or e-mail where I can address the problem. I love my Magicjack WHEN IT WORKS.

But the perpetual dropped calls and inability to get them fixed are driving me nuts! Who can fix this problem?

I suspect they bought 1000s of faulty units and didn't want to take a bath on them. 10 years mine was great. Since the upgrade it's all *** N good luck with Customer service,!!

I'm having the same problem. Between that and not knowing who is on the second incoming call, I'm getting frustrated and may not renew.

Has anyone come up with a solution to this? I as well, keep getting dropped calls with every single call i make.

I have my magic Jack independently connected. (not connected to the computer.

its plugged into the wall with ethernet cable and phone line). I love my Magic Jack and don't want to switch unless I really have no choice with no solution to this major problem.

I have the same problem. Customer service is useless

I am also having the same issue. have rebooted everything and spent quite some time with a tech support rep at magicjack.

What a joke and supreme waste of time.

My solution is going to use my cell phone. Magicjack has a problem on their end and all they want to do is blame your connection, blame your phone, blame your internet provider or sell you a new device-everything but fix their problem

I am having the same problem and also spend over an hour with an agent. It worked for a week and now drops calls.. very frustrating

This is my seasoned review of magicjack: https://springfield-ohio-post.com/ohiopostunderground/magicjack/magicjack.html After reading your comment I see that I need to update my review, and here's why: I too experienced what you are describing (only to find that magicjack was not at fault). You neglected to specify how you were using your magicjack.

If you are using the magicjack app on an otherwise dead cell-phone (or a working one....I only have cell phones with no service so the magicjack app was the ticket since I never leave beyond 80feet of the router and now my cell phone works!), HOWEVER it has been my experience that the phone and/or service provider that sold the phone, can be the root of the problem (so the simple fix was to wipe the phone back to factory and re-install the app). That is the scenario I've had to do no less than a half-dozen times in the past 2 or so years. Now I simply abstain from using the app whatsoever (I think the apps are vulnerable to other forces...maybe even those that have titles and badges LOL). As for the magicjack appliance (which is what you may be referring to when relating the dropped calls) again, it's been my experience that magicjack isn't at fault.

NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS TO YOU, simply reboot your modem because your internet provider is one of our weakest links when we are forced to use their hardware. Reboot your modem and after it comes back online and you verify that you can go to websites, plug in the magicjack to the router (*never use a hub, switch, or other unit that does not directly plug into your modem. In other words, if you have a modem/router all-in-one unit, plug into that. However if you have a separate modem and separate router that plugs directly into that modem, plug into that router that connects directly to the modem.

DO NOT plug into another device that plugs into your modem. It will work for awhile then become unstable (I say this because I work as a computer tech and have fully attempted everything that the magicjack site says not to do.).

So if you have a modem, then a router that is plugged into the modem, then a switch or hub or another router that is plugged into the primary router, don't plug into anything but the primary router. phew, glad I got that off my chest.

I have been have the same issue of Magicjack dropping incoming calls after 6 minutes and 30 seconds exactly. I have this running through my computer using their app.

I have 2 of the magicjack plus units. One for the house and one for my business. The unit for the house works great but the business line drops call. The difference is my computer.

I couldn't figure out what was causing the issue. I tried opening ports on the router, adding a switch to the modem as a direct link to it and bypassing the router. I checked windows firewall and just about everything that I could think of. I finally found a solution to my issue today by playing around with the power settings in Windows 10.

Under the advanced power setting I went to the USB line and expanded it. It was set to enable sleep mode when plugged in or on a battery. (I have a UPS battery on my workstation) I disabled both settings and have tested it from 2 different phone lines coming and and so far it has passed the 6:30 point and kept going.

I will be watching it closely for a while. Chris

*Ahah! My point exactly. When in doubt.....think some more before blame is laid.

Same here. I'm good for 2-3 minutes and then boom, cuts me off.

They canNOT tell me they can't fix this. I would bet money they can.

Either way, as soon as I can I'm going with another service. This is useless.

When in doubt, look in the mirror. Have you ever been completely wrong about something before? Since you've not stated your setup on this forum nobody is able to help you to remedy the problem (which may or may not actually be your magicjack at all).

Guest

I cannot make calls either. I'm cutting my losses.

This is an inferior-grade product. It simply does not work!

Without availing details of your setup nobody can help your need to simply vent (void of details other than "wah, this doesn't work the way my mind expected it to work). But since you are getting rid of your magicjack, will you sell it to me?

I can be reached at springfieldcomputer.repair@***.com and as long as you aren't expecting the price you actually could purchase it directly from magicjack, I'd certainly want to purchase your "broken" mj device. I'll leave my phone number but it's probably going to be censored off: (937) 718-**** *Don't break it!

This has happened to me as well. No dropped calls for a year, and in March the dropping started.

I've switched adapters, cords, phones(actually tried a corded phone too), switched outlets, Netgear ports, and still dropping.

Comcast internet check revealed no issues. Frustrated Majic Jack customer.

Is this problem still persisting to this day? If so, could you unplug your magicjack from the power (you can leave the phone line and ethernet connected since without power it's powerless";-) and then after the modem comes back on (after the modem fully reboots), then connect your router, wait a while until you can surf the net successfully (after the router fully reboots), then plug your magicjack back into the power and tell me if that solved the dropped calls.

If this works but then re-occurs later, please note the duration before the problem re-materializes (i.e.

"it worked for a week then..." or "it worked for a day then..."). Troubleshooting is a snapper but rest-assured, there's a few dozen variables in the mix when entangling anything to the modems and routers to get to the internet provider (through their switches and routers), then to the internet to ultimately reach the end-point servers.

Hi, I'm having the same problems as 166****. I tried you solution but the call still dropped.

Please help! Here's my configuration: MagicJack Plus (blue light on, green light on, amber light blinking), it's connected to my AT&T Dect 6.0 base station, my NetGear router, and plugged into my power strip. The router is plugged into my cable modem, which was provided by Spectrum, my ISP. Both our desktop and laptop machines are running Windows 10.

My problem is: when my son calls from his cell phone, AT&T is his cell network provider, the call lasts about 30-45 seconds before the call drops. I can call him back from our MagicJack enabled phones and it works fine, more or less (lots of static sometimes but that's another issue). We get identical results when we call our MagicJack enabled phones from our Tracfone (a pay-as-you-go cell phone). When we call the Tracfone, everything works fine.

Now here's the kicker, other folks call us from their cells, and we call them, and everything works fine. Like 166****, we've switched our of our cables, changed our router to enable port forwarding and spent an hour with a MagicJack tech who appeared to know less about solving this problem then I did.

What would suggest to solve this problem? Ron

I have several magic jacks - using two at all times as landlines - one of them has a drop of a few seconds at the beginning of each call but I got used to it. Problem is with MagicApp on Android for the same numbers - calls are dropped consistently after approx 2-3 minutes, for about one full minute and the cycle keeps repeating so the app can only be used for very short calls.

This is happening on 2 different numbers, different cell phones, different carriers, regardless of data plan or wifi present or not. I used Magic Jack for more than 10 years but unless they suddenly raise the quality of their services it is time to move on.

Price for full US&C long distance plans on cell phones dropped drastically and it is MagicJack is not so attractive anymore, especially with poor quality service. International calling rates with MagicJack are a joke - 3-10-20 times more than I pay calling directly from my cell...

Same thing here! I'm only a few feet from the router, wifi signal is strong and have no issues with other apps at all, except Magicjack. I think it is time to move on!

same problem here with two magic jacks at different houses

MJ drop call? Check your internet provider.

It might be intermittent on your IPS.

It could happen for few seconds. There is no pattern.
